Enter August

I’m always stunned when I sit down and try to write updates.
Like, wait, how did I lose almost an entire month? Again?
It always reminds me of my grandmother telling me how fast time flies when you get older, and how I’d just stared at her, completely not understanding why she thought Halloween and Christmas were too close together.
But now I get it.

This also may correspond to the reason why the Starbucks girl over the weekend told me her grandma had the same name as me.
Or maybe I’m just needing some sleep!

Either way, the summer is flying. A combo of summer activities with the kidlets, along with the regular work schedule and all the writing and editing I’m trying to get done has meant that time feels in short supply right now.

I put my next book up for preorder, feeling that July to Sept was plenty of time to finish edits and beta reading…then I realized it was only 6 weeks.
Doh!

Anyway, what’s done is done, and my new plan is to have it ready for Sept 7! (otherwise, I’ve heard Amazon drops the hammer, in addition to readers getting angry with me!)

The next book, The Raven and the Witchhunter, is a continuation of the series. I’ve been getting some feedback from readers who have been confused about the timeline for the novels.
So, I took a look at what they’ve been saying and completely agree.
While it is true each book can be read as a stand-alone with a complete story arc (because I hate cliffhangers!),
each book has the same cast of characters to varying degrees.
I’ve been mulling over what to do about that this weekend and I have decided on two things.

Firstly, I’m going to change the cover for book 4 slightly.
But no worries the artwork will remain!
I will just be changing the subtitle to better reflect this reality.
From book 4 and forward, the subtitle will be The Rise of the Light series.
The trilogy may be over, but I wasn’t ready to leave my people behind. I’ve already written the rough drafts for the rest of the books in my first series and know now that it will be eight books in total.
For anyone who is wondering, they are coming!

Secondly, in order to say thank you for anyone who has been reading and to make up for any confusion, Dragons are forever will have a 2-day special on Sept 1&2 where it will be free exclusively on Amazon.
So if you haven’t picked it up yet, mark it on your calendar. And if you have it already but you would like the new cover, you can still pick one up for free!

As for book five, which I’ve so vaguely hinted at, it should be up for preorder soon! I have another launch day party booked and I hope you can all make it!
More details coming soon!

And most importantly to me as always, thank you all so much for coming along on my writing adventure. I’m loving every second of this journey and learning so much on the way. I always love to hear from you, so don’t be shy!
Ciao for now,
Heather
