Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2018!

I woke up this morning to the sight of darkness. It was only five thirty, and I’d tossed and turned for much of the night. My little one has another cold, and was coughing and miserable so had the luxury of sleeping in the middle of my bed all night. This in turn meant feet on the face, and over the neck, and frequent repositioning to ensure that I could breathe. In between the toddler acrobatics, the sound of cat puking was an unpleasant event that woke me a few times. By the time I got out of bed, I was already nervous about what this year would have in store.

But time alone with my coffee caused me to feel the excitement of new things bubbling along with the caffeine. This year is fresh, full of potential and 365 days of time to accomplish so many things. If you’re anything like me, you have the sneaking habit of telling yourself about all the new things you’ll do, or bad habits you’ll break. Some things may actually happen, while other dreams are put firmly into the “what was I thinking?” category.

But whatever your motivation, whatever makes you feel alive, take this new year as an opportunity to review where you are.

Are you doing everything that makes you grow as a person? Is there something that you’ve always wanted to do, but been too scared, too busy, or too whatever to do it?

I love to review the year that’s gone and try to decide what to do this year to make my life better. I like to have a path to travel along, although in my experience, it’s really more of a guide than a straight road. For some reason, I always end up taking side routes and ending up in a completely different place than I thought I would.  And that’s okay, because that’s where the living comes in.

This year, for writing goals, I plan to get book three up and going. Revised, edited and Beta read so that I can have it ready to publish in March.

After that, I’d like to explore the supporting characters a little more, so be prepared to learn more about Vanessa, Mai, Evelyn and Zahara in the next year or two.

Who is Zahara? Well, you’ll find out in book three 😉

I wish everyone a bountiful 2018. Make this the year you achieve your goals, learn something new, reconnect, or listen to your body and yourself. Make this your year. I’ll see you on the way.

Excitedly yours,

H. M. Gooden
